We're teaming up with EnviroCentre once again to bring you an exciting Webinar on Rain Gardens in the Community!
Guest speakers: Jennifer Stelzer, the Manager of Community Sustainability Programs at EnviroCentre and Simon Greenland-Smith, the Outreach and Communications Coordinator for the City of Ottawa's Climate Change and Resiliency Unit.
Rain gardens in the community: Join EnviroCentre as we highlight the Cornerstone Demonstration Rain Garden. This project was undertaken as part of the City of Ottawa’s RAIN program and is a wonderful example of positive rainwater management in the Westboro area.
Learn how it was done, best practices and tips for creating your very own rain garden right at home!
Jennifer Stelzer is the Manager of Community Sustainability Programs at EnviroCentre, an Ottawa based environmental non-profit. EnviroCentre’s mission is to provide people, communities and organizations with practical solutions to lighten their environmental impact in lasting ways. Jennifer has a BA in Geography with a keen interest in urban landscapes and programs that influence citizen behaviour. Over the last three years, the City of Ottawa and EnviroCentre have worked collaboratively on the RAIN program to provide residents with positive and tangible strategies to improve stormwater management to protect our homes, communities, creeks and rivers.
Simon is the Outreach and Communications Coordinator for the City of Ottawa’s home rainwater management program in the Climate Change and Resiliency Unit. The program helps residents make their homes ‘rain-ready’ through simple landscaping techniques and the use of rain barrels. Simon is new to Ottawa and looking to connect with neighbourhoods that want to boost resilience and ensure sustainability for people and ecosystems alike.
