Invasive plant species like Buckthorn and Japanese Knot Weed are common along the Rideau River shoreline throughout the Ottawa area. These plants tend to crowd out native species that create a beautiful and bio-diverse shoreline. To give our native trees, shrubs and wildflowers a chance of success we need to remove these other more aggressive plants without harming the soils or contaminating the riverbank with pesticides.
Please come out and help us with the removal. We will also have refreshment and information on display about other green initiatives in Ottawa.
Help take care of our City Parks.
