Petrie Island Spring Cleanup

Ecology Ottawa, in partnership with Friends of Petrie Island and Ottawa Riverkeeper, is hosting a spring cleanup of Petrie Island. Petrie Island is part of a group of islands in the Ottawa River near Orleans, Ontario. The island has been classified by the Province of Ontario as a "significant wetlands", so it is important that we take the time to keep it clean so that native vegetation and wildlife can flourish there. Please help us come together as a community to protect and restore this local treasure.

The cleanup will be held on both Saturday May 31 (In English) and Saturday June 7 (In French), from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. We will be meeting near the nature interpretation centre on the island (at the north end of Trim Road), light rain or shine. We will supply garbage bags, and we recommend bringing work gloves and rubber boots. Please bring a rake if you have one.

Volunteers are invited to enjoy a vegetarian BBQ during the cleanup, sponsored by Ecology Ottawa.

Nettoyage du Printemps de l’île Petrie

Écologie Ottawa, en partenariat avec les Amis de l’île Petrie et Sentinelle Outaouais, organiseront le nettoyage du printemps de l’île Petrie. L’île Petrie fait partie d’un groupe d’îles dans la rivière des Outaouais prés d’Orléans. L’île a été classée par le province de l’Ontario comme une "zone humide importante", donc c’est important de prendre le temps de la nettoyer pour que la flore et la faune puissent y prospérer. Alors, rassemblons-nous comme collectivité pour protéger et restaurer cette richesse locale.

Le nettoyage se déroulera samedi 31 mai  (en anglais) et samedi 7 juin (en français) de 9 h à 13 h. Nous nous rencontrerons prés du centre de la nature sur l’île, beau temps, mauvais temps. Nous fournirons les sacs à ordures, et nous vous recommandons d’apporter des gants de travail, et des bottes en caoutchouc.  Veuillez apporter un râteau si vous en avez un. 

Les bénévoles sont invités à un BBQ végétarien commandité par Écologie Ottawa, qui sera servi durant le nettoyage.
