You are cordially invited to a private roundtable discussion with Nobel Laureate Jody Williams on Tuesday, October 29, from 14:30 – 16:00 at 25OneCommunity, located at 251 Bank Street (between Cooper and Lisgar) on the 2nd floor.
The event will bring together women from the Ottawa region to share their perspectives and concerns on addressing climate change in Ottawa and the proposed TransCanada Energy East pipeline. Energy East would carry over a million barrels a day of tar sands oil from Alberta to New Brunswick making its way through the city of Ottawa and across the Rideau River.
Jody Williams recently led a delegation Breaking Ground of women leaders from Canada and the US to the tar sands in Alberta and along the planned Northern Gateway pipeline route in B.C. While there, she met with over 200 women in 13 communities to listen to their concerns about pipelines, the expansion of the tar sands, and the impacts of climate change.
Now she wants to hear from you!
Due to limited capacity, please RSVP by Thursday, October 24.
You are also invited to a public discussion on Tar Sands, Climate Change, Pipelines and Clean Energy the previous night, October 28th, from 7:00pm-8:30pm at the Mayfair Theatre. For information on that event, please see:
