The Glebe Community Association and Ecology Ottawa are inviting you to participate in a “Active Transportation Audit” along Bronson Avenue.
ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION: WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
Everyone benefits from getting out and walking or cycling. These benefits include: improved fitness and health, cleaner air, a greater sense of community and just simply getting to where you want to go! But walking and cycling needs to be safe, easy and fun for people of all ages and abilities.
Bronson Avenue (between Hwy 417 and the bridge over the canal) is slated for reconstruction in the near future and we want to be sure that the voice of the community is included in the decision-making and redesign process. So please join us and take part in our Active Transportation Audit and help us build a vision of what Bronson can be!
Date: Wednesday, February 25th
Where: Meet at 1 Old Sunset Blvd at 5 pm sharp for a briefing. The route and survey will take you no more than a hour.
Participants will walk along a two block route while observing, taking pictures, and documenting impediments to walking and cycling by using a checklist of criteria to evaluate the safety of the route, its comfort, friendliness and convenience. Following the audit, a report will be published and sent to our Councillor and City Staff with the goal of moving us towards a travel environment that is safe, beautiful and serves all users.
Please join us! Everyone is welcome.
