Petition to Stop the Energy East Tar Sands Pipeline Through Ottawa

To the governments of Canada, Ontario and the city of Ottawa:

------------

We, the undersigned, demand that our elected officials prevent dangerous tar sands oil from being shipped through our city. A tar sands pipeline would create huge new risks and provide no new benefit for the City of Ottawa.

Click here for more information on the proposed pipeline.

-----------

Climate change is bad news all around. It’s better to stop it than to adapt to changes.

While the pipeline in itself is not something I would be adverse to, but this particular one is detrimental to the climate change objectives of the Paris D’accord signed on behalf of the people of Canada. In addition the Tar Sands Pipeline will augment the ecological damage of the Athabasca Basin.

Screw oil this is 2016. We need to give up some shit for a while if we want to keep this country in mint condition. What’s coming within the next 100 years is something we need to act on now. Preventable is what this pipeline is.
