The Centretown Citizens' Community Association and Ecology Ottawa have partnered to conduct an audit of the street scape in the Elgin/Minto Park/Museum of Nature section of Centretown.
Our objective is to document what aspects of the street scape currently work and where can there be improvements for pedestrians, cyclists, users with mobility difficulties and transit users.
Each participant will receive a cliipboard, checklist and note paper. Small groups will collaborate to complete the walking route and document their observations. Photos, video and written notes will be used to create a report that will then be submitted to Diane Holmes, Centretown's City Councillor, City officials, and all participating organizations and individuals.
Please join us! Everyone is welcome. Bring whatever you might use on a walk; a walker, a stroller, a grocery cart or your bike for example. We welcome all users' perspectives! Don't forget sunscreen, a hat, water and an umbrella in case of rain.
An additional route covering another area in Centretown has been selected, but will only be completed if there is a sufficient number of participants to split into two groups. In addition, interest has been expressed towards completing future audits of Bank St. and Elgin St. specifically to identify issues at different times of day. Please note if you would be interested in participating in future Centretown audits.
